I have a new book to review from Booksneeze. This one is fiction. It's called, "Bathsheba, Bathed in Grace: How 8 Scandalous Women Changed the World by Carol Cook. I've never read anything from this author before so I'm looking forward to seeing how she weaves the stories of these women. Look for my upcoming review in the coming weeks.
Book Review: Just Like Jesus Devotional: A Thirty-Day Walk with the Savior by Max Lucado

Last March, I received the book Just Like Jesus Devotional: A Thirty-Day Walk with the Savior by Max Lucado from Booksneeze.com in exchange for a review.

Book Summary:

This book is a Christian daily devotional. If you follow the plan of the devotional it consists of a daily scripture reading with thought provoking questions. It's purpose is to draw the reader closer to the person God would like us to be. Each reading is decently short, and the questions asked do help you reflect upon  your own life.

My Review:

I found this daily devotional to be wonderful. I believe participating on a daily basis with this devotional coupled with daily scripture reading from my family bible has led me to coming even closer to God, and the person I believe he would want me to be. The overall reading made me feel as if I were listening to a good friend, which only made me want to continue reading. To be honest I was sad when I finished this reading. I'm going to read it again, but this time invite my husband to share this devotional with me. I suggest this is a wonderful devotional book for anyone on the path to becoming closer to God.

Note: I received this book free from the publisher though the BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. This review is of my honest opinion.

Book Review: Beyond All Measure by Dorothy Love

Last year I received the book Beyond All Measure by Dorothy Love from Booksneeze.com in exchange for a review.

Book Summary:

This book is a Christian historical (Civil War era) romance that follows a young woman by the name of Ada Wentworth. Ada lived in Boston until her broken engagement, and the passing of her father. She found herself having to sell everything of value to pay off her father’s debts. She travels by train to Hickory Ridge, Tennessee to take a job as a lady’s companion. Throughout the book we are introduced to the trials and troubles that can affect a small community. There was tension because of having a Yankee in the midst of southerners soon after the Civil War. There was racial tension as well. Ultimately Ada falls in love with the nephew of the  lady she is a companion to a.k.a. Wyatt Caldwell (her boss).

My Review:

It took me a very long time to read this book. This is sad because I love to read about romance. It took me a long time because of the really slow beginning. It seemed to drag on which made me lose interest. I tried to go back to it a couple of times, but always ended up choosing something else in the long run. Ultimately I did finish the book, thus my review. I would suggest this book is for those that enjoy reading historical’s that slowly introduce the reader to not just the characters, but the entire world within the book. I believe those are the types of readers that will enjoy it the most.

Note: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. This review is of my honest opinion.

Book Review: “How to Be God’s Little Princess” by Sheila Walsh

I recently received this complimentary book from Booksneeze.com: How To Be God’s Little Princess in exchange for a review.

Book Summary:

This book provides royal tips for manners, etiquette, and true beauty for all of God’s princesses. This how-to-guide covers everything mothers and grandmothers would want the little girls in their lives to know about. It covers things such as dressing in a way that is both fashionable and modest, how to be a wonderful friend, correct dining etiquette and manners, hosting a party, rules for interacting with others using the telephone, or computer, how to be polite, proper ways to interact with others, and discovering inner beauty. The author also includes a lot of quick quizzes to help little princesses to test their knowledge on each area, fun craft ideas, and scriptures that help little girls gain wisdom into how exactly God wants them to blossom into God’s princesses.

My Review:

First let me say that I love this book. It’s small enough to fit comfortably in little girls hands. It’s a bright pink with little splashes of purple. It includes shiny silver writing and a picture of a silver tiara. I find it to be very girly looking. Even though I have two sons, they read parts of the book that I found had helpful information for God’s princes to know about. I found each section to provide the type of information that I would want my daughter to know if I were blessed with one. My boys found the dining etiquette, correct etiquette for using the telephone, rules for interacting with others, and being wonderful friends particularly interesting. I believe any little girl that reads this book will find it filled with a wealth of information, and full of interesting things to do like making jewelry, creating tie dye shirts. This is a book that little princesses of all ages can enjoy!
